Svetlana Chernienko is the President and Founder of For Us TV Productions, where she leads as Executive Producer, championing diverse voices in entertainment and creating opportunities for BIPOC filmmakers. Her filmmaking debut, The Advocate, marks a career milestone, merging art and activism to explore advocacy and justice.
Born into a creative family—her mother a renowned film makeup artist and her father a celebrated photographer—Svetlana was immersed in storytelling from an early age. This foundation paved the way for her transition into media, advocacy, and entrepreneurship.
Starting as a human rights and mental health advocate, Svetlana spent seven years as a TV news contributor addressing critical social issues and hosting a radio show to spark meaningful conversations. In 2023, she launched For Us TV Productions to address the lack of representation in media, producing impactful content that amplifies underrepresented voices.
The Advocate, inspired by her role in leading a historic Montreal march after George Floyd’s murder, highlights Svetlana’s bold vision as a filmmaker and her commitment to authentic storytelling.
